I’m always on the run, and to sit down for two hours to get my hair colored and cut, I need to prepare psychologically. This summer I decided to get a lot of layers again to just let it air dry into its natural curls. I love the curls, but I felt all summer like I didn’t care about my hair and looked messy. So I decided to give myself the gift of a makeover. The ladies that come to the studio get amazing transformations for their boudoir sessions that it made me want to get one. But instead of doing a photo session (that will be coming in December, stay tuned 🙂 ) I decided to get a makeover to attend a wedding. Since my own wedding over two years ago, this is the first time I’ve gotten a makeover, color, cut, hairstyle, and nails (if I’d had more time, I would have done the facial and pedicure as well). Needless to say, I was mentally prepared for a full day at the salon and I picked my good friend Mariefel’s salon, Mitchell Christopher Salon in Wheaton. Though a long drive, I knew it was going to be exactly what I wanted. I have worked with Mitchell Christopher’s stylists and makeup artists on two occasions doing fashion photo shoots and all I saw was quality work. The haircolor of the models was rich and bright, the makeup transformations were amazing, and the hairdos out of this world.

I told myself, “One day I will do an extreme makeover and have a fashion shoot like this” — who wouldn’t want to do this at least one time in her life?

In any case, I had my before and after photos to see the comparison of my plain natural self and my all-dressed-up look. For me, there is nothing worse than sitting at a salon for three hours and ending up with results that you are not happy with and on top of that, you have to keep it because it’s late and you have to get going! As I said, I went to where I knew for sure everything from color to makeup and nails was going to be the best in the industry. I didn’t care about the drive, the time, or what I paid. I’m busy and I need to get it done and get it done right. What can I say, I’m practical 🙂

I have another super nice wedding in September and I already booked the salon again for another makeover. This time,  I’ll want it more dramatic since it will be at the Chicago Botanical Gardens and I have a beautiful gown to wear. I never get to dress up, so I’m making up for the lack of occasions to feel beautiful and admired.

I have to say, after the wash and style, I can’t remember when was the last time I liked my haircolor so much. It is a rich dark brown with some highlights, and I’m loving my look! Thank you Mitchell Christopher Salon!

P.S. I will be adding a “Fantasy Diva” session to my boudoir repertoire that will include a fantasy makeover by Mitchell Christopher Salon!
